Classical
Olga Kern is a Russian classical pianist whose family’s ties to Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky prompted her to start learning the piano at the Central Music School of Moscow at only five years old. She continued her studies at the Moscow Conservatory. Kern won her first international competition at the age of 11. In 2001, she became the first woman in over 30 years to receive the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Gold Medal in the 11th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Her 2010 album, ‘Frédéric Chopin: The Essentials,’ was released on the Harmonia Mundi label.
