Despite social and political anti-cultural pressure he faced, Composer Quigang Chen demonstrated a true passion for music through his dedication to the study of composition and scoring. He is one of twenty-six candidates among two thousand who successfully passed Beijing’s Central Conservatory of Music’s entry examination after its re-structuring in the late seventies. Chen trained with numerous acclaimed French composers including Olivier Messiaen.
