Early
William Christie is an American-born French conductor and harpsichordist. He is noted as a specialist in baroque music and as the founder of Les Arts Florissants. Christie served as a professor at the Paris Conservatory from 1982 to 1985, and still participates in master classes and academies there. He became an officer in the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 1993, obtained French citizenship in 1995, and was elected a member of the French Académie des Beaux Arts in 2008.
