Marie-Nicole Lemieux is a Canadian contralto who rose to fame in 2000 when she became the first Canadian to win the Queen Elizabeth International Music Competition in Belgium. Lemieux is admired for having a beautifully flexibility and lightness in her voice. Her baroque style has gained her critical acclaim, especially when performing pieces by Handel and Vivaldi. Lemieux has appeared with several of the world’s greatest orchestras and opera companies, most recently in 2007 with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
